Facilitating Through Challenging Behaviour
A 3 hour online workshop for anyone who leads meetings,
workshops or community conversations.
Online via Zoom
Friday 26th June, 9am – 12pm NZST
We’ve all experienced participants who bring challenging behaviour to the room. At one end of the scale, you have people who don’t want to be there and they’re making sure that everyone knows it. There’s the over-sharer, the person who knows-it-all, and that one guy who keeps taking things off track.
At the other end of the scale, things can get even trickier. There are people with personal agendas, fixed beliefs, and internal power struggles. These things often lead to aggressive or inappropriate comments being made in the room.
As a facilitator, it’s your job to hold all of these things, while still guiding the group where it needs to go. It’s no wonder that sometimes we leave the room exhausted.

In this 3 hour workshop you will get practical tools and strategies for facilitating through the tricky stuff, and you’ll leave the session with increased confidence for working with—and through—challenging behaviours.
In this online workshop you will:
Learn how to minimise risk of challenging behaviours.
As with most things in life, prevention is always better than a cure. You’ll learn how to create a space where people are set up for success, so they’re able bring their best self to the room. Spoiler Alert: It’s more than agendas and group guidelines.
Discover simple tools for addressing challenging behaviours early.
Most challenging behaviours aren’t malicious in intent and often people don’t even realise their behaviour is disruptive. You’ll discover simple tools for addressing these behaviours early, so they don’t become a bigger problem than they need to be.
Learn practical strategies for calling out the really tricky stuff.
Even with prevention strategies in place, challenging behaviour can still enter the room—and some of it is UGLY! You’ll learn practical strategies and frameworks for addressing poor behaviour head on, while still maintaining the safety and integrity of the session.
Of course, you can have all the tools and frameworks in the world, but you need to be confident to use them. So, we’ll also explore your role as a facilitator and get comfortable with exerting generous authority when required.
When: Friday 26th June, 9am – 12pm

I will definitely be approaching meetings differently as a result of this workshop. It was clear, colourful and structured. It was broken up nicely to keep it interesting and digestible.
